Fergs Kayaks Wellington is home to a spectacular indoor rock climbing wall. It is unique and is moulded out of a concrete substance that acts like real rock. Our climbing wall offers opportunites for all ages, sizes and abilities. 13 metres high and with over 30 climbs, there really is something for all of your students to try.

Rock Climbing

We start every rock climbing experience by fitting your students with harnesses.

Students who are 12 years or older can belay (that is the person who feeds the rope through the system at the bottom of the rope).
Students under 12 years old can climb only

Our instructors will teach the older students and adults how to belay. We have this age restriction as this job is important for the safety of the climber and requires more concentration skills and responsibility. Please make sure you have a good number of people with the ability to learn to belay.

After your belay lesson your students have free reign of the gym, under the watchful eyes of our instructors. We are always on hand to help and guide your students through a fun and challenging experience.

Abseiling

We have a small abseill tower at Fergs Kayaks for your students to try another side of rock climbing. If you would like the abseil tower opened during your visit please make enquiries when you book

Conditions to recieve these prices:

You must be a registered education facility (primary or secondary)
You must make a booking (groups without bookings pay standard hire rates)
You must make sure you have a sufficient number of belayers aged 12 years or over for your group. If you need more, instructors can be hired at $40 per hour each
School prices only available Monday to Friday 9am- 5pm
